South Africa

John Muafangejo

In the 1970s and 1980s John Muafangeio worked with the materials that were available to him. His only medium was linocuts in black ink. This single pallet medium allowed/forced him to focus on his craft, which he refined to a very refined interplay between negative and positive space. His work can be found in many private and museum collections. The museum collections stretch from Europe to South Africa but domestically his work can be found at the Schomburg Center for Black Culture.
